OKAYYYYY FRIENDS THIS WEEK WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!! I have so many things to tell you all about, sooo let’s get started!
Monday was the absolute best!! We got 3 referrals from a couple different members that they were talking to and they all sound like they are going to be great people to get to know and to teach, getting referrals is fantastic! We had a family night with Janaina, Jessica and her mom! It was a great night, and it’s always really cool to see how much the Lord guides every aspect of our lives. We didn’t prepare a specific message, but we knew we wanted to talk about the Word of Wisdom with them. So when we got there we started talking and it was a perfect lesson, the Spirit was so strong and Jessica’s mom was saying that our message was exactly what she needed to hear! That is probably the best part of being a missionary- knowing that we are making a difference on people’s lives so that they can become closer to Christ.
Tuesday- Nothing super exciting happened, but we were walking in the street pondering about where we were going to go next... That was when a lady asked us if we were lost, we said no and she kept walking but I looked at my comp and we were both looking at each other like “ We need to get talking to her” so we started talking and it turns out she is a member but has been less active recently! Which explains how I have been in this area for 5 months and I had never met her before!! So crazy!!
Wednesday- This was a pretty normal day, nothing to out of the ordinary happened for us today…
Thursday- We were clapping doors and so we started sharing a message with this one lady, when we were finished she asked us to open up our Bibles to Solomon 91 and to read that chapter... We left there realizing that they were Jehovah’s Witnesses and that nobody has this chapter in their bible, and she thought we were also members of their church.
Friday- Our ward mission leader came to help us go out and make a bunch of different contacts. He is from Haiti so when he would start talking to someone he would say “ Hi, I’m from Haiti and I have 2 people here that have a message that they need to share with you!” It was great having someone with that much energy and enthusiasm helping us try and talk to the people that day, with his help we were able to make 14 contacts with people that we are going to try and go back and teach!!
Saturday- I woke up and we had 11 messages on our phone, which made me a little worried!!! But, it turns out that having that many calls is a good thing! We have an awesome reference from the Elders in California! And the message that they sent to us said that he had been talking to them and that he wants to be baptized!!! So my companion and I talked about it and we were so excited that we needed to go and that we have to go there and talk to him!!!! Something that was even cooler is that we had never even heard the name of his street before we got the reference from the California Elders... But, get this, because we made so many contacts the other day we just happened to meet a lady on the same street as him and looked at the map and we were so excited to see that it really was in our area!!! So that was pretty awesome! At lunch we had a churrasco because it was Independence Day here in Brazil!!!! They handed me a little chicken heart and I’m not sure why, but I was NOT able to eat that little heart I almost threw up... opa!!!
For the best spiritual moment of the week, I wanted to share what Jessica was saying to us the other day. She was talking about how amazing water is, but how it doesn’t even have flavor, it’s clear and really is something that everyone needs!! But then she made the connection that it is kind of like Christ, we can’t see him, but everyone needs him. He really is the Living Water that they talk about in the scriptures. This just made me realize how essential Christ is on our lives! I love being a missionary and being able to share the importance of Christ in our lives with all the people around us!!
I love you all, have a fantastic week!!
XOXO
