Monday- PDAY!! After emailing with our families for the day, we went back to our apartment and made a cake to take to our recent convert Janaina’s house! We shared a message and ate cake, a perfect start to the week if I do say so myself!
Tuesday- I hit 6 MESES (months) in the mission!! How is that even possible? I’m not exactly sure, some days it feels like I’ve just got here and other days it seems like I’ve been here for 18 months already! But woah 6 months have already gone by, and I will be seeing you all in a quick year! So we had a few funny experiences, we were talking to a lady in the street asking her if we could share a message and say a prayer with her and her family one day and she goes “I’m not going to need that” and she walks away!!! Haha, my companion and I ended up laughing at that pretty hard because little does this lady know we all need that. Then we were walking on a pretty rocky street and suddenly, my sandal tore in half!!! HAPPY 6 MONTHS!!!
Wednesday- Today was the day that we were supposed to visit Pedro. So, we show up to his apartment building but unfortunately, he did not give us the number of his actual apartment. Since we didn’t know which one was his, we started to call every apartment’s intercom in the complex but none of them were his. We were a little sad that we could not find him in all those apartments. The rest of the day was pretty good, we are teaching a few people that are progressing really well, they have questions and are actually interested in learning more about the gospel! Those are the absolute best people to find and to teach!!
Thursday! We ended up staying in the apartment a little bit longer because my companion was feeling really sick in the morning, but by later on in the afternoon she was feeling better and we were headed out to teach a few lessons. We showed up to a house that had a mom and a daughter living there, and they are so sweet and have so much potential, I’ll keep you updated on them and their progress!! Then we had to head out to pick up the other sisters at the bus terminal, and it takes about 30 minutes to get there, we were headed to pick them up because the other sisters were going to stay with us to watch the Prophet on Friday. Once we show up the to the bus terminal, we found out that they weren’t there!!!! We called our zone leaders to find out why they weren’t there and they had forgotten to tell us that the other sisters actually would not be coming to stay at all.... It was a little bit of a bummer, because we were excited to see them.
Friday- We got to wake up and listen to the Prophet!!!! He gave a special devotional that was meant to be just for the missionaries currently serving in Brazil! It was so awesome!! He really is inspired! He shared a bunch of different scriptures and specifically focused on 3 Nephi 11! One of the best chapters in the Book of Mormon! And that was definitely the highlight of the day, okay better yet that was probably the biggest highlight of the entire week!!!
Saturday! – Today we had lunch with Jessica and she made LIVER.... I tried Liver people!!! I don’t really recommend that anyone start eating liver but it was kind of fun to try once! After lunch, my companion and I started to clap doors, we both still get a little nervous to clap doors but we have started to build up the courage to keep doing it. This is mainly because we have had strong promptings while clapping at doors before. This time it was a specific feeling to clap a certain door! We clapped in front of their house, and a family left the house and they started talking to us! It was awesome, and they are the best golden investigator family! I will keep you updated as we work more with them. We are really excited and already have marked another day this next week to visit them!!
Then on Saturday night we were walking back to our apartment and we ran into a friend that we had already talked to. He had already had the missionaries teach him in the past and he still knows sooo much about what we share with people!!! We were talking to him when this strange lady showed up and started talking, she was saying the craziest things! She mentioned that she had died 7 times, the first 6 times she went to hell and the last time she went to heaven and that’s when she started to go and become active in church and follow God’s direction in her life! At that moment I was really wishing that I couldn’t understand all of her Portuguese, but unfortunately, I understood all of the crazy crazy things she was saying. We left there because the crazy lady had a really bad spirit about her, so we went to the bishop’s house to ask for a blessing. Luckily, he was able to give us a blessing and we were able to feel the Spirit again which was such a relief to feel and know that the power of the priesthood is so real!!!
Sunday was a very chill! All the members got to listen to the Prophet, and since we had already had the devotional specifically for missionaries, we kept working instead of going and listening to this one… But the day was good!! There was a drunk in the street that called us devils a couple of times. It was funny, especially because I can actually understand them now. My days are much more entertaining now, especially because you never know what people are going to say!!!
For a more spiritual moment from this week, I wanted you all to know that there is a living Prophet on the Earth today, he is called of God and is extremely inspired and that I know that the Priesthood has been restored to the Earth today!!!
Amo vocês!!!
XOXO,
Sister Sanovich
