Episode 8 - Mais Portugues sol e chuva (More sunshine and rain)

Celebrated 1 month in the Mission (a little late)
Wooh! This week has flown by, I can't believe I am emailing again already.  I made up an analogy this week so here it goes...You know how when you turn on a RAP song and you only pick up a few words in it and it's just sounds not REAL WORDS?  Well that is how it is every second of everyday for me!  lol  Portuguese is really AWESOME but for reals it is also SUPER HARD.  This week has been great here is the scoop..

Monday: I got to email you all and speak with the family...in the BEST language there is (English) what more could I ask for?

Tuesday:  We met this Super CRAZY lady that was baptized because she liked the missionaries (super sad to me) but I guess that happens a lot here.  Then we had some sisters come to stay in our apartment for the night we made some REAL GOOD FOOD!  In other news we were teaching this other lady and all of sudden she says "Can I take a picture of you?"  I guess because I am from the United States she thought that was cool, so I had to say YES. #101Brasil

Wednesday: What a dia! (day)  We feasted again we made some yummy tacos for lunch. They really don't do dinner here so its usually the last meal of the day.  The rest of the day wasn't real exciting, but we were on this street and this guy stopped us, I thought I recognized him, but I wasn't sure why??  Then all of a sudden he goes you taught me and my family before.  I would like you to come teach us more. #milagres (#miracles)

Thursday:  The highlight of the day was when me and my companion had been teaching a lady and I had just finished speaking in what I thought was Portuguese the lady says to my companion "I don't understand when she speaks." lol  In my head I thought the same thing "I don't understand when you speak either."

Friday:  No one here works on the weekend of Pascoa. (Easter) So no one really wants to talk to us.  We ended up walking all around in the GOOD OLD BRAZILIAN HEAT and that was just great.  We were able to share a little message with some people that were on the street about Pascoa. (Easter) Then we headed back to the apartment and decided to try to make some churros with some dulce de leite - OKAY...AMAZING!

Saturday:  We visited a lady that had a challenge to read the Book of Mormon and to pray.  We asked her about her experience and she said "She received such a strong feeling that our message is TRUE."  Blessings...she is going to baptized on May 4th.  After this amazing experience it started to rain and it continued to rain all day.  There was a relief society activity in the evening so we ended up visiting the members before that.  The relief society activity was super fun!

Sunday:  Pascoa! Wahoo! What a great day! Church was "Maravilhoso" (Marvelous) and the members gave us some yummy chocolate.  We then went to our lunch appointment we ATE SO SO much. ay ay ay!  Then we walked around our area in the rain all day with no success, it was lovely.

That's about all for the week.
Here is a scripture for the week Mosiah 4:9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.

Believe in God = Milagres (Miracles)

The Church is True I believe this with all my heart.
The Book is BLUE and always remember God LOVES YOU.

Episode 7 - Tchau Tchau CTM - Ola Efapi (bye, bye CTM - Hello Efapi)

My amazing Trainer Sister Santos

Okay the past two weeks have been so crazy!!!! sorry this email is going to be all over the place, that is how the past 2 weeks really have been!!!

The last week in the CTM was great, we did a bunch of teaching and a bunch of learning. We took in all the time we could together as a district before we parted ways!!! It was awesome, the Elders in our district gave us all blessings of comfort before we left the next day, it was awesome!!
Then the next day was time to really go to the campo!! (FIELD)

The plane ride was super quick only 50 minutes, and then we went to the mission home and met President and his wife we had some AMAZING food!! Then I got on a bus with another Sister for about 12 hours to go to my NEW area called Efapi. We arrived in the area around 8 in the morning and met my trainer her name is Sister Santos! She is from Northern Brasil and doesn't speak much English...that is when I use my amazing charades a bunch...which helps and I also use the dictionary a whole bunch too!!

It is really really awesome here and really really HOT here.

But the coolest event happened this past Friday we had a baptism for a cute girl named Jessica she was so excited to be baptized.  We picked her up for church yesterday (Sunday) and she seems to be so happy.  I am excited for her!  The work here is INCREDIBLE and the members are amazing, I feel so blessed.

I really am sorry this email is kinda lame but I will TRY to be better next week!! I got busy sharing some funny stories with my family with our FIRST video chat. Hopefully I can get better at writing what is happened during the week so I can share more with you.

The church is true
The book is blue and God loves you!!!

XOXO

Episode 6 - Florianopolis here I come!

Carley with President & Sister Goncalves
Ola!!!!
How is everything going? This past week has been so GREAT,

We arrived in FLORIPA today! Can YOU even believe it???

First of all last night our District did a testimony meeting as a group and the Elders gave us all blessings of comfort and strength, to get through the things that are to come. It was absolutely amazing!

Also Conference was so INCREDIBLE...I loved it what did you think about it?  Sorry again that I don't have very much time today, as we are just in the mission office quickly emailing letting you know that I have arrived here.
I am going to be leaving here in a while to go to the very furthest area of the mission. I am SUPER excited! I am going to have a Brazilian trainer and that will be wild that's for sure!!  However, my charades have gotten so good the past few weeks (fake it until you make it RIGHT?)  My trip there will be 14 hours on a bus, but don't worry (MOM) I wont be by myself... I will be with some Brazilian Elders.  Floripa (that is what they call it here) is so pretty from what I have been able to see, its like the California of Brazil...so, so, Pretty!!!!! I hope you will get the pictures I have downloaded.

How is Portuguese going you ask??? It is REAL hard but good!  I understand a bunch...until people start talking directly to me or ask me questions...hahaha then I am not sure what to do lol!!

TUDO BEM!!! (Okay!) I will write more next week about my last week at the CTM
and the first week in the Campo (field)!

EU AMO VOCES - (I LOVE YOU)

Lots of Pictures coming your way!

Finally received a ton of pics from Carley's camera today. However, there are no names or titles of them, but she looks SUPER happy and that's all that matters.
ENJOY!
