Episode 4 - Minha mensagen pode mudar sua vida (My message can change your life)

March 26, 2019
Ola Amigos!!!

The title the week  ~ Minha mensagen pode mudar sua vida
MEANS ~ My message can change your life.

This week has been so good and so crazy. o tempo voa! (time flies) So much happens that I wish I could share everything!! But i am just going to share one of the BEST experiences from this week!

On Saturday we had the opportunity to go out proselyting!! It was so much fun and super crazy. We went to the times square of Brazil! que legal! (that cool) Not going to lie it was super scary at first but with time we were able to get 3 contacts! Me and my companion were struggling with Portuguese with a lady she stops us and says that she knows English #BLESSED We were able to keep talking to her in Portuguese/English! We had a great chat and she was telling us about how she thinks the world needs more LOVE. It was an amazing experience to be able to testify of God's love for us and that is why me and my companion are here. That is our purpose as missionaries to invite others to come closer to CHRIST and to feel of his LOVE.

Another cool experience was with Sister Training meeting this week we usually prepare a lesson but when we got there we actually had to teach a member about Member Missionary Work. IT turned out so GREAT and neither me or my companion used notes for the entire lesson and we did it ALL in Portuguese...#giftoftoungesisreal
As a district we have so much fun together we have good laughs about everything! Like I said I wish I could share everything that happens here because so much happens throughout the week.  But with such a short amount of time here to write it is hard to get all the experiences down in an email.(sorry) But I am loving every minute of my days here even if I have to get up to say good-bye to my roommates at 4 am.  hahaha

I have decided to started to highlighting anytime the Book of Mormon says or mentions Christ, Lord, Savior or  Redeemer.  It has been quite amazing to see how the Gospel of Jesus Christ really is centered around Christ. and how I can center my life around him as well.  I wouldn't be a missionary if I didn't extend an invitation to ALL of you. I challenge you to center your lives around Christ and I know you will be blessed!

The book is blue! The church is true!

Episodem 3 - Envio o nao envio (FULL Send or NO Send)

*Note from Mama Nic...as of today I am finally ALL caught up with Carley's blog.
Hopefully you will continue to receive the updates each week, not everyday like it has been. lol
Thank you so much for supporting Carley on her Journey while on her mission. Love you all ❤❤❤

March 19, 2019 - Google Call from Carley at 7:15am this morning, what a GREAT WAY to START OUR DAY.
So EXCITED to hear her voice, she sounds SUPER HAPPY and is loving it.  She could see us on her computer but we could not see her because they do not have camera's on their computers. That's ok it was so nice to hear her sweet voice. ❤Wow technology IS SO COOL! #blessings

The title of the Episode means (full send or no send) that pretty much sums up the week!!!
This week has been so crazy and not a ton of time but here are a few highlights...

1.  It has rained almost every single day we have been here and it downpours. It is so amazing!

2.   We eat like all the time and then sit all day! Not that I am complaining but the food is not that great here #riceandbeansfordaysss...Everyone says how good the food is going to be when we get out of the CTM...only 3 mais semanas (more weeks)

3.  Portuguese is rough not going to lie...here are a few phrases that sum up my life here at the CTM
     - posso fala en ingles - can i speak in English
     - tudo bem, tudo bem - all is well, all is well
     - a afliƧao e real - the struggle is real
     - novamente por favor - repeat please!!!

4.  Our Brazilian roommates are in love with the American Elders it is the best thing to sit back and watch. They always talk about how cute the Americans are! so funny! They actually left this morning it was so sad to say goodbye, but we are excited to get new some new roommates!! Change is good.

THIS WEEK CONDENSED...
Tuesday- more splits with Brazilian sisters it went well even though I don't understand much

Wednesday- p-day!! we woke up at 4:30 to head to the Campinas Temple. I woke up and got into the shower and as I started the water all these bugs started flying around...#thanksbrasil  its a good time!  The Temple is soooooo BEAUTIFUL I wish you all could see it, then we all took naps on the bus ride back to the CTM, for people that know me "I LOVE NAPS" so it was definitely a highlight. Then we ended the day with an amazing devotional and choir!

Thursday- We were supposed to have trcs (volunteers that come into the CTM to be taught by the missionaries) but our investigators didn't show up.

Friday- Such a fun day! Sister Oldham and I taught a Book of Mormon lesson to our investigator Michelle, and she accepted the invitation to be baptized!

Saturday- We were able to go outside to prepare for our lesson and it was so nice to hang outside for so long. We taught Michelle again and she loves the Book of Mormon and is so animada (excited) to get baptized. #myprayerswereanswered

Sunday- Sundays are the best day! I had the opportunity to teach the District lesson. I taught them about how we can all gain Christlike attributes from Preach My Gospel. It was so great. I love being a Sister Training Leader it is the BEST it taking me out of my comfort zone for sure. lol...

Monday- We had a chance to play volleyball and then we like to surf lds.org its the best time!!
anyways everything is so good!!

Matthew 16:3 Christ said and I quote (signs of the times) #thanksharrystyles #sighofthetimes

Season 1: Episode 2 - Umidade e quente e portugues (humidity, heat and Portuguese)

March 12, 2019

Hi Friends & Family...so its been 2 weeks here in the CTM...WOW time flies by when you are having a good time.  Even though the language has been a struggle.  I LOVE it HERE so much.

Basically the title of this email describes my life perfectly right now...humidity and heat and attempting Portuguese....haha

Sooo... deixa eu te contar uma coisa (let me tell you something)

This week has been sooo crazy but, I felt like it went so quickly. I only have 40 minutes each week to email EVERYONE. My time here is limited so I apologize for my short emails...but here are some of the highlights.

Tuesday: Got to email so that was pretty rad. We taught a lesson in Portuguese and it was rough #portugueseishard

Wednesday: Was pdayyyyy and we went to the Sao Paulo Temple and we walked around a bit which was so AMAZING.

Thursday: Sister Oldham and I got kinda sick but...we are all good!
(mama nic here-what??? sick?? you never said anything about being sick???)

Friday: We went to the police station which was fun and super crazy
(mama nic here-again...WHY did you go to the Police Station?? should I BE WORRIED?)

Saturday: We had the chance to leave the CTM so that we could go to see the Doctor and get a prescription so that was definitely the highlight of the day.
(ONCE AGAIN...mama nic here-should I be concerned with the lack of details??)

Sunday: Was EXCITING and used to be really relaxing, but...Sister Oldham and I got called to be Sister Training Leaders which is going to be more meetings and CRAZY BUSY. But I am feeling very humbled and blessed for this opportunity to serve the sisters here.  The one meeting is with the Leaders and we get caught up with what is going on with the Sisters in our Zone.

FUN FACT ~ the Brazilian Sisters like to hit on the Elders and try to hold their hands and write them notes so that's pretty ENTERTAINING...lol.

Monday: we has splits with Brazilian Sisters and I definitely thought I knew MORE than I really do...hahaha
I didn't understand much #portugueseishard

Please say a prayer for me that I will have an understanding of this language.
Love you all sooo much and I hope you have an amazing semana!!!! (week)

The book is blue & the church is true!!!
XOXO

Season 1: Episode 1 - QUE LEGAL (HOW COOL)

March 5, 2019
Ola minha familia e amigos! Tudo bem?
(Hello Family and Friends! IT'S ALL RIGHT?)

This week has flown by and also felt like years all in one!
The flight here to BRASIL was good... I met an Elder and a Sister on our way from Salt Lake to Atlanta they were very nice and boy was I glad we were traveling together. Then we had to book it to get to the next flight and of course it was on the opposite side of the airport.
We get to the terminal as soon as they were calling the last people to get on for
Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was insane and we all looked at each other wondering if this was really happening. I sat next to a really nice girl from Sao Paulo, she was confused why I would be leaving my family and going all the way to Brazil basically by myself. This was the first missionary opportunity I was able to have and it was awesome! I explained to her a little bit, and it went really good.

Wednesday- we got to Brazil, it is soooooo crazy from the plane window there was so much greenery and houses and buildings stacked on each other. We got off and I instantly felt the humidity lol my hair is so wild I have never seen it this curly before! We then met up with a bunch of missionaries which was good. The bus ride over here was insane and I was instantly humbled by what I saw. The drivers here are also like super crazy they get soooo close to getting in a crash every second, super funny to me. Then there are people selling stuff walking down the middle of the crowded streets. We got our name tags and went to choir and had a devotional. Because we don't understand much we always have to wear headphones, it is super entertaining.

my District is way cool
sister Perry is from San Francisco
sister Dequain is from Georgia
elder Hixon from Arizona
elder Devenburg from Utah
elder Draper from Texas
elder Seller from Sri Lanka
elder Pita from New Zealand

and drum-roll please...my companion is Sister Oldham from Arizona.
So it's "Oldham - Sanovich" get it???
We get along really well and she knows a lot of Portuguese and Spanish so that
helps a bunch. We share a room with 2 Brazilians and they are so cool,
we teach them English and they teach us Portuguese

I don't have a bunch of time emailing so sorry for the lack of an email.  But I love it here and everyone is so loving. Our teachers irma (sister) Jensen and irma (sister) Lopes both speak English which is super nice and we are learning a lot from them. Our days are starting to be more and more Portuguese which is kinda overwhelming and I definitely have a headache all day (haha) But I have never been happier!

On Sunday my entire branch bore our testimonies and we all shared them in Portuguese, it was pretty cool to be able to feel the Spirit even when I really don't understand very much.
I am gonna to be honest the food is not very good. My favorite thing has be dulce de leche pizza. lol I could have that everyday! Other than that we usually have rice and beans and some meat. Then we sit around all day and eat again. We are eating soooooo much. Luckily I have been told that the food out of the CTM is much better then in here. (haha) But we are being fed so its really nice. My favorite is that we have unlimited mango juice and guarana with our meals...

The title of this email is QUE LEGAL which means HOW COOL, and we say that a lot here when talking to people. It is really fun to say, probably one of  my favorite phrases so far. When I tell people that I am going to Florianopolis they are like ohhhh bonita e muito frio..(beautiful and very cold) then I just have to laugh because if that is cold then what is Utah to them. Then they always say that it is actually a Vacation not a Mission.

Unfortunately I cant send any pictures until I am out of the CTM...but I love you all!!

(I know that God has restored His Gospel through Joseph Smith. The book of Mormon contains the word of God. I know this is true through my prayer. Because of this testimony, I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I am grateful for the Gospel and the scriptures. I am very grateful for my family and my opportunity to serve a mission.
In the name of Jesus Christ,)

Love.
XOXO,
Sister Sanovich

Setting Apart!

02-25-19
There is a missionary in the house...AGAIN!  We enjoyed a dinner at Carley's favorite restaurant "Simply Tai" then at 8:30 President Tait, his sweet wife Sheri, Aunt Connie & Uncle Alan, Tyler Pettit and our "NEW" (only 24 hours of being our bishop) Bishop Hulet joined us at our home to give Carley a blessing and set her apart as a full time missionary.  The spirit was so strong and the testimonies that were born were definitely another witness of the truthfulness of the Gospel.

On a Windy Sunday afternoon we went to Temple Square and tried to take some pictures for Carley's invitation.  Jared (a friend from college) did a fantastic job for us, we are very grateful for his amazing talent.  They turned out perfect.

The Final Invitation is complete.

On Sunday February 24, 2019 the house was set with the smell of bacon, scones and wassail.
We were ready for our Incredible Family & Friends to join in our celebration.
We were even on time for church.

Carley did a fantastic job on her talk I believe she has inspired many and will continue to inspire the lives of the people she comes in contact with.
*Once again we are not great with picture taking unfortunately. (sorry)
Thank you to so many that were helping hands we are so grateful for your
kindness and willingness to help.  We have the BEST SUPPORT!
When we came down the street the cars lined the entire block,
we could feel the LOVE before we even arrived at home.  It was quite the sight.
Our humble home was filled with so many.  Words cannot express how truly loved we felt this day.

Amazing Friends...Forever.  Jordan Drill.

It is a tradition in our family to choose a Temple within a 2 hour flight to go outside of Utah.  Portland Oregon was the Temple that Carley chose to take out her endowments.
