Still Season 1 Episode 20 - CADÊ MEU VÉU?! (WHERE IS MY VEIL)

okay hello another week here in the mission field - IT IS FANTASTIC!!!
here the rundown...

Monday night the other sisters in our District came into town for our district meeting. They stay with us, it is always super fun to have them hang'in out with us!

Tuesday we had our district meeting with everyone...I love being together. I learned a bunch...even how we can endure through the cold winter and continue to have success!! Then after our meetings we were suppose to go to lunch but it fell through.  But we are super lucky to have the best Bishop ever, he invited ALL of us to lunch with him!  For the rest of the day we met a bunch of new people...there was also a bunch of SUN which means success!!!   It was a great day that is for sure.

Wednesday we had an appointment which was lunch SUPER far away.  They asked if we could meet them a little later than usual...but when we show up to lunch they were not there!! so we wait for a bit and ten we call them...an hour later they finally show up. But they end up making a churrasco (barbeque) for us! IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!! We had such a cool lesson after lunch, I was able to say all the things that I wanted to share about the Restoration.  The spirit was so strong! We left the lesson and Sister Amorim tells me that I did so good and that I explained things so well! I was super hyped, such a great motivation! #blessings

Thursday was a good day too, we visited with a less active girl who just had a baby! when we got there we talked and her sister in law starts whispering lets pray lets pray, where is my oil!? she starts giving the baby a blessing and the mom of the baby was soooo confused it was so funny!! other than that we went to a pretty poor area, almost all the people we talked to there are super loving and want to receive our messages! So cool!!!

Friday is where the name of the email comes from..so here in Brasil there is a religion where every time you pray you have to use a veil to cover your face.  We were sharing a message with a couple that is apart of this religion.
The husband asked if we could finish with a prayer. so we enter there home and the lady places a scarf for us to kneel together and then she starts scrambling looking for something.l her husband goes..
(what are you looking for)
(Where is MY VEIL)
(the veil was used in the time of Paul not now)
she YELLS (leave me alone its for my own feelings joão, you don't know my feelings)
then continued to kneel and cover her face with her hair to represent the veil.
so needless to say we left there laughing about the veil and his response!!!!
haha it was definitely such a highlight for this week!

Saturday we set a baptismal date for our friend Vermekeue!!! EXTREMELY BLESSED.

Sunday we had our friend Antonio show up to church at 8 am after working ALLLLL night!!
We are excited for him, he has so much potential and is progressing so much!

Another milagre (miracle) this week was we were talking with Irma and she was telling us a bunch of things....we left and my companion asked if I understood and so I told her everything that I understood, and she goes woah Sister Sanovich you are fluent!! It feels so GREAT that I am finally starting to understand Portuguese!!! wahooo!!!!!

the church is true, the book is blue, and God loves you!!

Episode 19 - QUE FRIO (IT'S COLD)

Hello everyone!!!

This week was super awesome and super super cold! let me tell you all a little bit about this week!

Monday after talking and emailing we had a super fun family night with 2 of our recent converts Jessica and Janaina! We had (hot dogs) Brazilian style, and hot chocolate!

Tuesday was soooooo cold and super rainy! Which means NO ONE wants to talk with us, NO ONE is in the streets and NO ONE will open the door for super wet cold Sister Missionaries! We are lucky to have the BEST recent convert Jessica, We hung out with her for a bit then finally at night we had a lesson!!! The lesson was with a super rad family, that is really really interested, they also have a fire place in their home, so it was a win-win  Situation!!

Wednesday still SUPER COLD!!! We have an amazing member in our ward and she loves to go to lessons with us! so we had a few lessons with her its really cool because she is a convert herself and has an amazing testimony about the importance of going to church! so we were excited that she would share her testimony with our friends we are teaching! Then we were supposed to have a lesson with one of our friends but she wasn't home!!!! It was such a bummer, we ended up hanging out at our Bishops house and had the best hot chocolate I have ever had!! It was also my mamas Birthday and we all sang Happy Birthday to her in Portuguese, it was definitely a highlight!!  THEY LOVE "MAMA NIC" so it was fun to sing and send her a voice recording to wish her the best birthday ever. (even though I am not there)

Thursday!! HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!!! definitely.the.coldest. 4th of July IN MY LIFE!!!  I couldn't believe it! but my companion and I celebrated with some pizza, singing some american songs and speaking a bunch of English!

Friday, STILL COLD!!! my companion and I have ended up wearing 2 pairs of tights, 1 pair of socks with boots, 5 shirts and a coat and yes still cold..... so Crazy we keep joking about how Brasil is supposed to be HOT!!! but we had some super awesome lessons! we were teaching one lesson and the lady that was talking just kept talking.... I didn't understand a thing, but I kept on pretending like I did. we left the lesson and I said to my companion, "I didn't understand anything!" My companion just starts to laugh her head off!!!! haha luckily that doesn't happen too often!!

Saturday! YEP and you guess??? That's right....STILL COLD!!! We ended up with Irma Marines and tried "mate doce" (everyone drinks it here in South America) so so so good!!!  I never thought that "mate" would be good, BUT it was super good, I am not sure how to explain it but WOW....I will bring some home and we can all try it together...just wait a year! ;)

Sunday, so there was a big soccer game.... Peru vs Brasil.... we walked a past a house and I saw that BRASIL WON!!!!! so my companion and I stopped to watch a bit, the family in the house sees us and next thing you know he was shutting the blinds....hahahahaha it was pretty funny but we were super hyped Brasil won!! Also, awesome our District Leaders always call us to tell us how cold it is...Sunday morning it was -4 degrees Celsius... not sure in Fahrenheit what that is but it was SUPER FRIO!!

Man the weeks just seem to be flying by!! I cant believe I have already been here 4 months!!!  It is super awesome here and I love being a missionary especially for the opportunities that I have to share my testimony with everyone we meet!! This week I challenge you that if you have a chance to share your testimony with someone!

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
the church is true. the book is blue.

Season 1: Episode 18 - Esta e minha Vida! "This is MY LIFE"

Week ending June 30th, 2019

Okay so I haven't sent an email in a while, but I promise I'm alive! So much has happened in the past 3 weeks, I will tell you all about it!

So to start off the week we had a crazy thing happened, we almost didn't have our zone conference! Which everyone knows that you look forward to Zone Conferences.  But Presidents family was coming to visit the day our zone conference was scheduled.  But our District leader insisted we still have it, instead of a P-day. It's super cool to see all the other missionaries and to get inspired by them.  I was grateful that OUR District Leader felt the importance of still having our conference.

One day we were stopping by our recent convert, Jessica's house. She wasn't home but her mom was. Her mom is super awesome but she definitely has a few struggled, so we shared a message about prayer with her, it was incredible... The spirit was so strong! And she just kept that message was exactly what she needed to hear!  The message we shared with Paula is from a talk in the Liahona from February 2019, titled "A Personal Relationship with our Heavenly Father through Prayer" by Elder Juan A. Uceda.  This talk is amazing and talks about the importance of prayer. I want all of you to read it! It will change your life! I know that prayer is essential for us to be completely converted!

Sister Santos and I walked past a house and a little old lady was sitting  outside, so we stopped and wanted to share a message. And to say the least it was one of the funniest experiences I have had. So every couple of seconds she started to do something, she starts to sing "Meu Amorrr" Then she pulls out her Instagram and asks us if we know how to post pictures, so we helped her post about 8 pictures. Each with a new grandchild and she was using filters and everything. It was awesome!

So we also had 2 baptisms! For Alan, he is 13 and anyone that meets him says that he is super special and amazing. And Janaina, she's 22 and super funny too. So Friday we had their interviews with the elders and after I was able to talk with the family for Cassidy and Tyler's wedding! Woot! Congrats newlyweds! But that was super cool!  The baptisms were super awesome and almost the entire ward showed up! All the elders were like is this all of Efapi?, and we were like YES! our ward is super cool! Our stake had 11 baptisms from the missionaries it was so neat!

Sunday, transfers day... 4:30pm almost 5 in the afternoon we get a call from President that Sister Santos will be transferred to be with my companion from the CTM (Sister Oldham) and will be getting a new companion for her last transfer in the mission! we go to say goodbyes to some members, and teach a few lessons. We get another call at almost 8pm telling us that my new companion will be arriving at 5:30 am and Sister Santos will be leaving at 7am... And she was NOT packed.... So we finish up and ran back to the apartment to pack and clean up a bit... It was the craziest thing ever! Then the next morning we are all ready to go.  Sister Santos calls our leaders to confirm.. And he says No you aren't leaving until 7PM at night, but yes Sister Amorim is arriving at 5:30am So that was kinda fun! The 3 of us had a mini P-day together! we ate tart at Jessica's! The rest of the week was way super awesome! I love my new companion, and she is an amazing missionary! I'm going to learn a lot from her! She loves English and so sometimes we speak English/Portuguese and that's fun! But anyways we are teaching a few super cool people and basically all of them showed up to Festa Junhina Saturday. It was super fun, Sister Amorim is from Forta Leza and Festa Junhina is HUGE there so we were excited that the party was a success!

Thought for the week comes from the talk I spoke about by Elder Juan A. Uceda of the Seventy

Mark 5:36 The Savior said "Be not afraid, only believe"  Believe that God the Father will listen to you. Believe that He "will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart (D&C 8:2)  Believe that you-YES-YOU-can feel peace and comfort.  Believe that you can receive spiritual power to overcome.

I love you all!

XOXO Sister Sanovich
